La Alameda de Hércules

La Alameda de Hércules is a public garden located in the historic center of Seville, near the Guadalquivir River. It is known to be the oldest public garden in Europe.

Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer was born near the Alameda, on Calle Conde de Barajas.

In the Alameda we can find the Casa de Sirenas, a mansion from the 20th century. It is used as a civic center where we can attend exhibitions, courses, workshops, cultural and neighborhood activities.

In 1989, there were 35 brothels in the area. Prostitution was eliminated and is now a recognized area of restaurants and bars. It is one of the most cosmopolitan places in the city since in this place you will find people from all over the world, both tourists and foreigners residing in the city for work or academic reasons.

The nights are usually lively and you can enjoy its restaurants with dishes of all kinds of nationalities or its multitude of bars.
