FALSTAFF by Giuseppe Verdi at the Teatro de la Maestranza.

On February 16, 19, 22 and 24 will take place the performances of Giuseppe Verdi’s famous opera ‘FALSTAFF at the Teatro Maestranza in Seville.

 

‘Falstaff’ returns to Seville.

This opera buffs on libreto of Arrigo Boito from “The Merry Wives of Windsor” and “Henry IV” of W. Shakespeare returns to the Theater of the Maestranza after more than 20 long years.

It premiered at the Teatro de la Scala in Milan, February 9, 1893 and was the last opera composed by G. Verdi and his second comedy.

The operatic comedy tells the story of Sir John Falstaff and his misadventures to deceive and make two married ladies (Alice and Meg) fall in love with him to keep the money of their husbands, but his plot do not go well and he ends up stuck in the middle of a crazy plot in which he will not be the only one they make fun of.

Pedro Halffter Caro artistic director of the Teatro de la Maestranza directs based on the production of Marco Gandini, the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville, the Choir of the Association of Friends of the Maestranza Theater and an excellent cast.

The performances will take place at 8:30 p.m. and the tickets are already available through the theater’s website.
